The full story about Dell Inspiron 15.6" - Intel Core i5 - 8GB 2400MHz DDR4 - 1 TB 5400 RPM HDD - Intel HD graphics 620 - i3567-5149BLK

By our senior writer: Johanne Jensen

Today is a exciting day for me because I get to review the Dell Inspiron 15.6" - Intel! I am long time electronics writer, blogger and reviewer Johanne Jensen and you might know me from some of my other reviews. I've written for example about the Garmin DriveSmart 61 NA LMT-S by Garmin and the Garmin Forerunner 25 - L by Garmin or maybe you have heard of the editorial piece I did on the M-Edge Red Nylon Canvas Latitude Jacket for Amazon Kindle Touch. Anyway, I have quite a lot experience trying out electronics and recommending only the best to my readers. Therefore I was really happy when this product came on my path.

I've been a fan of Dell products1 for years and I was really looking forward to finally trying the Dell Inspiron 15.6" - Intel and reviewing it for you guys. I found the best deal on this site on Walmart (You can buy the Dell Inspiron 15.6" - Intel here.) and I didn't hesitate a moment. So I reached for my creditcard and bought one straight away. I was glad it had free shipping and 24 hours delivery when I ordered it because I couldn't wait! When my Dell Inspiron 15.6" - Intel arrived the next day I ripped open the packaging and was really happy with what I saw. As I said before I'm a huge Dell enthusiast but I can be very critical and objective too, especially when writing for my readers. :-) After testing it for about a week now I am confident that I have the authority to write this piece. So read on and I will tell you all about my findings and if you should buy this thing.

Best Dell Inspiron 15.6" - Intel Core i5 - 8GB 2400MHz DDR4 - 1 TB 5400 RPM HDD - Intel HD graphics 620 - i3567-5149BLK deal

When reviewing electronics I usually begin with a summary, then a compact list of the pros and cons of the product after which you can find the rating and my conclusion and resources. So as you can read in the intro, I am really amazed by the Dell Inspiron 15.6" - Intel. Dell has really set a new standard with this one. The durability is fantastic, and frankly; it just looks super. I know looks aren't deciding with electronics, but it just needs to be addressed. I mean the price Walmart offered was and is by far the lowest so make sure to check them out when you are going to get one. As I have tested some alternatives before, I will say none come close to the Dell Inspiron 15.6" - Intel. Just the flexibility alone crumbles all competition and the quality also seems to be top notch. The famous customer service of Dell2 is always very happy to help if you have any kind of questions so if you ever run in to something with their products they'll be really supple with helping you find a solution. So just to recap; only positive things to say about the Dell Inspiron 15.6" - Intel Core i5 - 8GB 2400MHz DDR4 - 1 TB 5400 RPM HDD - Intel HD graphics 620 - i3567-5149BLK. Do read till the end tho because you there is a tiny surprise!

The list of pros of this Dell Inspiron 15.6" - Intel is going to be much longer than the conslist and the description3 this site gives already lists them quite well. To quote just an excerpt: "

Extra compute core big for pros, still a netbook.

As a tech, I've been dreaming about a "netbook" sized device that was finally fast enough to do real work in all fields of computing. I've used everything from the early single-core Atom netbooks about 10 years ago, to the current crop of Chromebooks and 2-in1s. This is the first one that has reached the "good enough" point for general professional use. The previous AMD APUs in the Stoney Bridge generation that were small enough to appear in passively-cooled devices had E-series CPUs with 2+2 core configuration. This uses an A9 9420 that is limited down from 15W to 6W. The processor is reduced to about on par with a dual-core Celeron, but the extra 64 shaders make a big difference in any professional applications that can use them for computing. It puts this system far beyond the capabilities of its Intel competitors for direct computing on the go. It takes something like an Apple Macbook at around $1000 to get better compute performance in an 11" form factor. For general consumer use, I would only say it's slightly better than previous Celeron and Pentium powered versions of the same thing. CPU power is about the same, slightly less in single-threaded apps. The improved graphics let you play games from 6-7 years ago, rather than 10, but a cheap 15" laptop in the same price range will still do a better job. The low power and fanless cooling prevent this laptop from doing things that AMD APUs in larger laptops do with similar specs can pull off. Everything besides the APU is the same as previous models of the Inspiron 11 2-in-1 released for the past 2 years. It has the same 1366x768 TN touchscreen that is just good enough for the price. It weighs about the same and features the same keyboard, webcam and port selection. Important note if you are unfamiliar with Windows devices running on limited RAM: Any system with 4GB RAM and a slow 5400rpm hard drive is going to take 24-48 hours to be remotely usable. Windows updates and background processes will be fighting with the APU for memory and systems with integrated graphics share even more. At first this system was very slow with the stock RAM and HDD, then about 24 hours after first boot, it had a sudden speed-up and was perfectly usable for Chrome browsing, office applications and general computing without any significant slowdown.

Works Great After Upgrading Memory

I needed a small mobile laptop that was easy to carry, and could be used for presentations and collaborative work. The Inspiron 11 fit all of my requirements - that is, until I went online to websites like Facebook and others that are heavily populated by ads and links that take you off-site to someone else's video presentation. The original 4GB ram on the 3168 could not keep up, and would freeze or completely stall out. Upgrading to 8GB fixed that problem like magic! Then the slow 500GB hard drive made loading aps and browsing images and videos stored on the drive frustratingly sluggish. That problem was solved by swapping out the hard drive with a 500GB SSD. My little laptop now handles data like a full size desktop. When I'm back at the office, I connect my 24" monitor via HDMI, and I forget that my little laptop is running everything - including my 8TB external drives. Great little machine - best investment I've made in a long time!

Solid Netbook and a better tablet

This netbook remains loyal to its core mission of being a lightweight, ultra-portable device that is optimized for the commuter or mobile professional, while offering the ergonomics and ease-of-use usually exclusive to tablets. It truly is a 2-in-1 device, which makes this Netbook a steal at his price-point. The touch screen is responsive and precise, picking up on the tool tip icons I intended to touch despite them being fairly close together on the compact 11" screen. It is fully capable of being integrated into a work station with it's ports for an HDMI cord, an SD card, 3 USB devices at 3.0 speed, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The screen is bright with solid contrast, failing to betray this Netbook's opening price point. If you must, the speakers are also of serviceable quality and do not sound like there is wax stuck in the speakers. Be aware that due to the 4GB of memory on this device and it's use of a contemporary operating system (Windows 10), it will run like a hog until it has had enough time to properly go through and update. It will feel sluggish out of the box but this will disappear once the computer is properly configured and memory and processing power is no longer being dedicated to updating various background processes. I particularly enjoy using this device as a tablet to stream video. It feels solid in my hands the (almost) 360 degree hinges allow me to position the screen at whatever angle I wish. The hinges for this device are particularly solid and have no lateral give whatsoever. I was able to hold this laptop on its side by the corner of the screen alone and I never felt that the device was in any danger of giving or breaking. All in all, this is a solid, excellently-priced Netbook with no extra frills with the exception of it having thoughtful and commuter-oriented tablet functionality. I am writing this review as part of a contest.
